1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide to Us
- Account Credentials: When you register, you provide an email address, username, display name, and password. Note on Passwords: Zenfied does not store or see your raw password. All authentication is securely processed and encrypted by Google Firebase Authentication, an industry-leading identity provider.
- Profile Information: You may choose to provide additional details for your public profile, such as a bio, profile picture (avatar), banner, and links to your other social media accounts.
- User Content: As a social platform, we collect the content you create and share. This includes text posts, links, uploaded images, video embeds, interactive polls, comments, and replies.
- Social Interactions: We record your connections and interactions, such as the creators you follow, the followers you gain, the posts you upvote or downvote, and the content you save to your account.
B. Information Collected Automatically
- Voting Integrity Data: To maintain the fairness of our polling system, we log session tokens, User IDs, or masked IP addresses (depending on the creator's chosen security settings) to prevent duplicate voting and spam.
- Platform Usage & Trends: We collect engagement metrics (views, votes, shares) to power our "Trending" and "Explore" algorithms. This helps us suggest relevant content and creators to our community.
- Device & Log Data: We automatically receive basic information from your browser, such as device type, browser type, and timestamps of your activity to help us secure the platform and fix bugs.
- Cookies & Local Storage: We use local storage and cookies to keep you logged in, save your theme preferences, and temporarily store post drafts.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the data we collect to provide a rich, interactive social experience:
- To Provide the Service: Enabling you to publish posts, cast votes, comment on discussions, and follow other creators.
- To Personalize Your Experience: Tailoring your "Home" and "Explore" feeds based on the accounts you follow and the content you interact with.
- To Maintain Safety and Integrity: Monitoring for fraudulent activity, enforcing community guidelines, preventing vote manipulation, and handling user reports against inappropriate content.
- To Communicate With You: Sending important account updates, security alerts, and platform notifications (which you can manage in your Notification Settings).
3. How Your Information is Shared
Zenfied is a social network, which means much of your activity is meant to be shared. However, we do not sell your personal data to third parties. We only share data in the following ways:
- Publicly Available Information: Your profile (username, bio, avatar), published posts, and comments are visible to the public. If you vote on a poll, your vote is anonymized to the public unless the creator's settings dictate otherwise (but overall counts are visible).
- With Service Providers: We rely on trusted third-party infrastructure to run Zenfied securely:
- Google Firebase: Manages our secure database, real-time data syncing, and user authentication.
- Bunny.net: Acts as our Content Delivery Network (CDN) to securely store and deliver the images and media you upload.
- Netlify: Hosts our website and handles our serverless backend functions.
- Legal & Safety Reasons: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety, rights, and property of Zenfied, our users, or the public.
4. Your Privacy Controls & Choices
We give you control over your social footprint on Zenfied. Inside your Dashboard Settings, you can:
- Control Discoverability: Set your account to Private, hide your active status, or opt out of being suggested to other users.
- Manage Interactions: Control who can comment on your posts, who can @mention you, and who can view your following list.
- Content Visibility: Hide the upvote/downvote counts on your specific posts, or restrict your posts to "Followers Only".
- Block Users: Block specific accounts from viewing your profile or interacting with your content.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account data and content for as long as your account is active. You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal information at any time. If you wish to permanently delete your account and all associated data, you may submit a request to our support email.
6. Children's Privacy
Zenfied is not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that their child has provided us with personal data without consent, please contact us immediately so we can delete the account.
7. Changes & Contact Us
As Zenfied continues to grow and add new features, we may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify users of significant changes through an in-app notification or by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
